The Board of County Commissioners entered into an Agreement, specifically the Reserve/Support Agreement for the Nassau Oaks Volunteer Fire Department, with the Board of Directors for the Nassau Oaks Volunteer Fire Department on August 24, 2015. As part of the Agreement, the County is required to provide the Nassau Oaks Volunteer Fire Department with certain firefighting equipment and funding for protection services, and in exchange, the Nassau Oaks Volunteer Fire Department is to provide fire protection and first responder services for the unincorporated areas of Nassau County.
The Agreement provided for an initial term of approximately one (1) year beginning August 24, 2015 and ending September 30, 2016. Pursuant to the terms of the Agreement, the Fire Chief is required to review the terms of the Agreement annually and make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners through the County Manager for renewal, if desired. The Agreement has been renewed annually since October 1, 2016. The most recent renewal is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2020, and therefore, at the request of the Fire Chief, the County Manager (Mr. Mullin) recommends renewal of the Agreement for an additional one (1) year period beginning October 1, 2020 and ending September 30, 2021.
