On January 28, 2019 the Board of County Commissioners approved a 50/50 split of the cost to repair the damaged pipe section located behind 2156 Sapelo Court, and to perform maintenance to the east to the downstream ditch to eliminate blockages addressing localized flooding. The work will be performed by the City of Fernandina Beach (the City) stormwater personnel, and the total cost of the project is $21,322.10 with the County reimbursing the City for one half the cost, which is $10,661.05.
The City approved an Interlocal Agreement on August 18, 2020, however, the Interlocal Agreement signed by the City differs from the Interlocal Agreement proposed by the County. The County agreement adds language on item 3: "The City will notify the County of any additional costs associated with the repairs and allow the County 30 dats to review additional costs" and item 4: "in accordance with the ownership and maintenance responsibilities outlined in Exhibit B." Staff is requesting direction from the Board how to proceed.
