Background:
FDEP Agreement 20NA1 will provide up to funds to reimburse to reimburse the SAISS MSBU for 43.06% of the non-Federal local costs of eligible on-going, permit required, monitoring requirements and the construction cost of the 2021 Beach Renourishment Project. This includes up to $56,538 for on-going monitoring activities and up to $7,586,779 for construction. The total reimbursement grant is worth up to $7,643,317.
Request:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign an agreement with the State of Florida, Department of Environmental Protection, Contract No. CM2933, for the South Amelia Island Shore Stabilization (SAISSA) Beach Nourishment Project. Funding Source: SAISSA.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
This agreement reimburses the SAISS MSBU for up to $56,538 of monitoring expenses currently under contact and up to $7,586,779 of proposed construction cost for the FY2021 Beach Renourishment Project. The Agreement will potentially save District Property owners up to $7,643,317. No Nassau County ad valorem tax dollars are spent on this project.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
SAISSA Trustees recommend that FDEP Agreement 20NA1 be executed and returned to the FDEP for their approval.
