BOCC AGENDA ITEM
|Item Title:||Consideration to Approve Memorandum of Understanding (CM2844) with JEA for Utility Work on William Burgess Extension|
Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) has requested Nassau County to enter into an agreement for the design and construction of the William Burgess Extension project from US 17 to Miner Road for water main work. The Memorandum of Understanding requires Nassau County to amend the William Burgess Extension design contract with GAI Consultants and include the water main design work. The Board approved GAI’s contract for the Engineering Design work of the William Burgess Extension project on December 9, 2019. JEA will be responsible for all design costs associated with the incorporation of the water main design.
JEA and Nassau County will each have their own contract for Construction Engineering and Inspection Services and Construction, which will include each agency being responsible for its respective costs for services and equipment. Administration of contracts will also be conducted separately.
|Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA), Contract No. CM2844, for design and construction of the William Burgess Extension Project Water Main from US 17 to Miner Road.|
|Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:|
|There is no expected impact to future years budgeting for the County. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) contains language clearly defining the costs for watermain design, construction, and inspection as the responsibility of JEA. Construction of the water main while roadway construction is taking place will help eliminate damage to the new roadway during utility installation.|
