Background:

On September 14, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners approved Contract No. CM2922, an Interlocal Agreement with Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA), for management, operations and maintenance services for Nassau Amelia Utilities. 

 

In addition to the Interlocal Agreement, the BOCC approved Resolution 2020-154, which admits the County as a member of the FGUA.  On October 15, 2020 the FGUA Board unanimously approved membership of Nassau County into the FGUA including a seat on their Board.  According to Resolution 2020-154, Section 3., B. "The Board of County Commissioners hereby appoints the County Administrator to represent the County on the Authority's Board of Directors.  In the event the County Administrator is unavailable, the County Administrator's designee shall serve as the alternate member on the Authority's Board of Directors."

 

It is Mr. Pope's recommendation that Robert Companion, County Engineer, be listed as the County's alternate on the FGUA Board in the event Mr. Pope is unavailable.

Consider an alternative, non-elected representative, to serve on the Florida Governmental Utility Authority Board in the event the County Administrator is unavailable, pursuant to Resolution 2020-154.  Staff recommends Mr. Robert Companion, County Engineer.
