Background:

On August 19, 2020, an Invitation to Bid (ITB) was published for Bid No. NC20-023, Fuels.  Bids were due on September 15, 2020 and opened on September 16, 2020. 

 

Two bids were received in response to Bid No. NC20-023 as follows:

Gate Fuel Service, Inc.

Item 1 - Gasoline - $0.0894/price per gallon

Item 2 - Diesel - $0.1147/price per gallon

 

Mansfield Oil Company

Item 1 - Gasoline - $0.3016/price per gallon

Item 2 - Diesel - $0.3016/price per gallon

 

Staff recommends awarding Bid No. 20-023 to the lowest responsible bidder, Gate Fuel Service, Inc.

Request:
Consider the following: 1) award Bid No. NC20-023 for fuels to Gate Fuel Service, Inc. 2) approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM2931 and associated Requisition.  Funding source: 03404541-552020
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Without an expedited fuel contract, Nassau County runs the risk of this year and future year's budget being negatively impacted should we be forced to pay higher prices above those established in this agreement.  Without a contract, fuel vendors could charge an increased rate without guidelines.  Possibly more importantly, this contract guarantees delivery on an established schedule.  Without a contract, Nassau County may have no guarantee of delivery which could leave essential vehicles inoperable.
Action Requested and Recommendation:

Consider the following: 1) award Bid No. NC20-023 for fuels to Gate Fuel Service, Inc. 2) approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM2931 and associated Requisition.
