Item Title:Concurrence on Appointment of Director of the Florida Dept. of Health Nassau

Background:

As Dr. Eugenia Ngo-Seidel, Director of the Department of Health-Nassau, is retiring after 30 years of service, a new Director will need to be appointed to fill the position.  The State Surgeon General, Dr. Scott Rivkees, has made a recommendation to appoint Dr. Prince Danso-Odei to the position of Director of the Department of Health-Nassau.

 

Dr. Danso-Odei has an excellent and diverse background in all aspects of public health and has demonstrated his ability as a skilled leader.  Dr. Danso-Odei is currently employed with the Department of Health-Clay County as an Epidemiologist and Manager of Disease Prevention and Control.

 

Per Florida Statute 154.04, County health departments must sustain the partnership between the Florida Department of Health and county governments and are requesting the Board of County Commissioners to approve concurrence on Dr. Danso-Odei's appointment.

Request:
Approve appointment of Prince Danso-Odei, Doctor of Public Health, as the Director of the Florida Department of Health in Nassau County.

The mission of the Florida Department of Health in Nassau County is to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. Public health professionals are dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities through the mission of the agency.
