Item Title:Resolution Adopting the Local Mitigation Strategy

Background:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Florida Division of Emergency Management requires that all counties maintain, conduct meetings, and submit a Local Mitigation Strategy for approval, subsequent approval by the County and Municipal Legislative bodies, and then submittal through the FDEM to FEMA for recording.

 

On February 17, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the Nassau County Local Mitigation Strategy 2021-2025.  The Local Mitigation Strategy is required to be adopted by the Board of County Commissioners by Resolution.

 

Please note, the Local Mitigation Strategy 2021-2025 document is exempt from public record.

Request:
Approve a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners Adopting the Nassau County Local Mitigation Strategy as the County's Five-Year Plan to Reduce Damages and Losses to Life, Property, and Critical Infrastructure Due to All Manner of Natural Hazards.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
The benefit for the citizens of Nassau County is that if one of the projects from the list is chosen for funding, the project will be paid for on a 75% - 25% (with 25 % match from the county or municipal organization that submits it).  There is no cost involved in submitting the document, and if a project is chosen, the county or municipal organization can refuse the project funding prior to the project being started.

Approve a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners Adopting the Nassau County Local Mitigation Strategy as the County's Five-Year Plan to Reduce Damages and Losses to Life, Property, and Critical Infrastructure Due to All Manner of Natural Hazards.
