Background:
Florida Statute §316.008 provides the authority of local government to regulate electric bicycles on sidewalks. Friends of Amelia Island Trail, Inc. has petitioned the Board of County Commissioners to amend Ordinance 2020-25 and allow Class I electric bicycles on county sidewalks, county-maintained multi-path trails, bicycle paths and trail networks.
