| | | | | | | | Background: | On April 28, 2021 the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) executed a Local Agency Program Agreement (LAP) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the construction of a Multi-Use Trail on Amelia Island from Fletcher Avenue to Via Del Rey Road.
FDOT has requested Nassau County to execute a Construction and Maintenance Agreement, Contract No. CM3024, which defines the responsibility of the trail’s maintenance because portions of the trail will be constructed on FDOT property and County property. FDOT will reimburse the County for the construction of the trail and agrees to maintain any portion of the trail that is within their property. Nassau County will be responsible for the maintenance of the trail on County property. | Request: | Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Construction and Maintenance Agreement, Contract No. CM3024, and associated Resolution, with the Florida Department of Transportation for the Amelia Island Trail from Fletcher Avenue to Via Del Rey. | Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens: | Maintenance of the County maintained portion of the trail will be included in future Road Department operating accounts | Action Requested and Recommendation: | Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Construction and Maintenance Agreement, Contract No. CM3024, and associated Resolution, with the Florida Department of Transportation for the Amelia Island Trail from Fletcher Avenue to Via Del Rey. | Is this action consistent with the Nassau County Comprehensive Land Use Plan? | Yes | Funding Source: | Funding for this agreement (CM3024) will be budgeted in future Road Department operating accounts.
