The Nassau County Sheriff's Office is wishing to remove $2259 from the Crime Prevention Trust Fund to purchase a "McGruff Crime Dog Costume." The costume will be used to help promote nonprofit, drug-free crime prevention events that are sponsored by law enforcement, and preventative education use in the area of crime, violence, bullies, gang violence, cyberbullying, internet safety, telemarketing crime against seniors, identity theft, substance abuse, safe firearm storage, etc.
Pursuant to Florida Statute, Section 775.083, the County in consultation with the Sheriff, must expend monies from the Crime Prevention Trust Fund for crime prevention programs in the County.
