| | | | | | | | | Background: | On October 1, 2005 the then sitting Board of Commissioners voted to suspend the dependent health insurance subsidy offered by the County for all newly hired employees. Since that time health insurance costs have steadily increased countywide resulting in financial hardships and difficulties in hiring and retaining employees.
After careful consideration and review of the 2022 Health Insurance Committee recommendations, as well as the County's fiscal obligations, on August 18, 2021 this Board voted to allocate funds which would reinstate this benefit for all eligible employees. | | Request: | | Approve revisions to the County's Personnel Policy and Procedure Handbook, Section 9.01 Health Insurance which reflect a 50% subsidy for employees dependent health coverage effective January 1, 2022. | | Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens: | | Estimated at $1.25 million, contingent upon employee elections during the 2022 Open Enrollment period and going forward. | | Action Requested and Recommendation: | | Approve revisions to the County's Personnel Policy and Procedure Handbook, Section 9.01 Health Insurance which reflects a 50% subsidy for employees dependent health coverage effective January 1, 2022. | | Is this action consistent with the Nassau County Comprehensive Land Use Plan? | | NA | | Funding Source: | | Various; allocated within departmental budgets |
