The Arts Council was created by the City of Fernandina Beach via Resolution No. 2007-102, adopted on July 5, 2007. The Council's purpose was to provide a committee/group to represent the arts community and to serve as a liaison between the City Council and arts community.
In 2010, the City expressed an interest in expanding their efforts to the west side of the County and subsequently adopted Resolution No. 2010-140 creating providing for two non-voting members to be recommended by the Board of County Commissioners. As a result, the Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2010-161 in support of the City's designation of the Fernandina Beach Arts Council as the County-wide Arts Council. The BOCC later adopted Resolution No. 2011-123 supporting the City's decision to rename the Arts Council to Arts & Culture Nassau.
The County's current representatives on Arts & Culture Nassau are Ms. Marge Powell and Emily Baumgartner, however both their terms expire on December 31, 2021, and both have indicated that they do not wish to be reappointed. There are no resumes on file for individuals requesting appointment to this Committee. Therefore, staff respectfully requests permission to seek resumes for new volunteers.
Arts & Culture Nassau holds their meetings on the first Monday at each month at 12:00 p.m. at the Atlantic Recreation Center in Fernandina Beach. |
