BOCC AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:CM3115 Ten-8 Fire Safety for MSA Air Packs and Bottles
Date:1/10/2022
Department:Fire Rescue
Background:

Nassau County Fire Rescue would like to upgrade the current breathing apparatus equipment used by firefighters at fire rescue incidents.  Breathing apparatuses are used by firefighters and rescue workers while operating in areas of immediate danger to life and health, such as a house fire or building fire filled with smoke, fire or toxic gas.  Use of breathing apparatuses will greatly reduce respiratory injuries from toxic fumes.  Our current equipment has exceeded its useful life and is ten (10) years old.

Nassau County contract no. CM3115 would piggyback Lake County, Florida Contract #17-0606L and have been authorized to use the contract.

Request:
Consider the following: 1) Approve Fire Rescue to piggyback off of the Lake County, Florida Contract, #17-0606L, with Ten-8 Fire Equipment for MSA Air Packs and Bottles; 2) Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM3115 with Ten-8 Fire Equipment in the amount of $879,056.35 for MSA Air Packs and Bottles.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
This will allow NCFR to provide a safe breathing environment for our firefighters at incidents and the equipment meets and/or exceeds current industry standards.
