Item Title:	Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant Application 2022-23

Background:
The Office of the Attorney General is accepting applications for the 2022-23 Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant. This grant funds the Nassau County Victim's Advocate position whose responsibility is to respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims, assist to stabilize their lives after a victimization, assist to understand and participate in the criminal justice system and provide a measure of safety and security. The grant amount requested is $62,208. Letters of support from Micah's Place, the School Board and the Women's Center of Jacksonville will be forthcoming before the application is submitted electronically.
Request:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the VOCA grant application documents for FY2022-23 and authorize staff to submit the application electronically.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Without this grant the Sheriff's Office would be unable to have the Advocate position that is essential in assisting victims in understanding their rights and coordinating various services.
