Item Title:Approve the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) Priority Projects

Background:

The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) has requested an updated list of annual Priority Projects for the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Five Year Work Program.  The County Commissioners will need to review and approve the final list of projects.

 

Local Priorities

  • CR 121 Safety Improvements – Resurfacing of CR 121 from Duval County to US 1 (35 miles)
  • Pages Dairy Roadway Extension – Chester Road to Blackrock Road

US Highway 301 / Crawford Road Interchange (Intersection Improvements)

 

Region Wide Priorities

  • SR 200/A1A Intersection Improvements – I 95 to Amelia Island Parkway
  • US 17 Widening and Intersection Improvements - From Duval County to SR 200
  • SR 115 Lem Turner Road – Widening from US 1 in Callahan to I 295

 

Transportation Alternative Projects

14th Street Shared Use Path – Shared Use Path along 14th Street, phased to connect to the Bailey Simmons Trail to the South via Will Hardee, and to the Fernandina Beach Schools to Waterfront Trail

 

SUN Trails Projects

SR200 Shared Use Path from US17 to the Amelia Island Parkway

 

School Safety Project

Yulee Elementary Pedestrian Improvements – Shared Use Path / Sidewalk to provide pedestrian improvements from SR 200 to Williams Avenue

 

Studies

Widening SR 200 from CR 107 (Old Nassauville Road) to Amelia Island Parkway from 4 lane to 6 lanes (2.8 miles) – Includes widening of Shave Bridge.

Request:
Review the list of Priority Projects as presented, and authorize the County Engineer to submit the projects to the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Projects may require additional funds to future Capital Improvement Plan should 100% grant funds not be obtained
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Review the list of Priority Projects as presented, and authorize the County Engineer to submit the projects to the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization.

Funding Source:
Capital Improvement Funds will be allocated for each project should funding be obtained within the Five Year Work Program.
