| | | | | | | | | Background: | The City of Jacksonville Mosquito Division prepares an annual application to the Federal Aviation Administration to renew its congested area plan of operations that specifically describes low-level mosquito spray flights. The operations area for mosquito control spraying includes the jurisdiction of the Amelia Island Mosquito Control District.
In order to complete their application and in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, 137.519(b)(1), "prior written approval must be obtained from the appropriate official or governing body of the political subdivision over which operations are conducted." A letter has been prepared for the Chairman's signature. | | Request: | | Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a letter to the City of Jacksonville, Mosquito Control Division, granting permission for aerial mosquito spraying within the Amelia Island Mosquito Control District area for the period of May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023. | | Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens: | | The Amelia Island Mosquito Control District (AIMCD) strives to improve the quality of life for residents through the control of pestiferous and disease bearing mosquitos.
