As Nassau County continues to experience unprecedented growth, the Board of County Commissioners must explore viable options to expand value-adding tourism related activities both on Amelia Island and in Nassau County. Tourism is a critical component of the Nassau County economy, according to the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, generates over $850 million in economic impact; supports 1 in 4 jobs; and contributes 36% of all sales tax collected.
Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. (JLL) has provided a Project Proposal to execute a Nassau County Tourism Strategy and Destination Development Strategic Plan as a means to develop a County-wide tourism strategic plans and evolve the tourism market by creating a strategic roadmap to tourism sustainability both on and off-island.
On December 13, 2021, the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council approved a Resolution recommending the use of Tourist Development Tax dollars to fund the Nassau County Tourism Strategy and Destination Development Strategic Plan.
Approval of this request finds the use of Tourist Development Tax dollars to fund the Nassau County Tourism Strategy and Destination Development Strategic Plan is consistent with Florida Statutes 125.0104 and local Ordinances 88-31, as amended, and 89-8, as amended. |
