| | | | | | | | | Background: | | Nassau County Fire Rescue (NCFR) applied for and was awarded the HEROS grant for Naxolone (Narcan) in 2020. This is an open reorder program after initial approval under the Florida Department of Health-Emergency Medical Services (FL DOH-EMS). There is no re-application necessary. Once we were approved, we may request future disbursements until supplies are no longer available and the program concludes. The program provides Narcan to first responders in order to help offset the cost of purchasing the medication. Narcan is the main drug used to reverse opioid overdoses. Orders for Narcan will be filled as needed until State funds are exhausted and the timeframe is unknown. There is no cost to the BOCC. | | Request: | | Authorize the Fire Chief to request additional orders of Naxolone, as needed, through the Florida Department of Health-Emergency Medical Services HEROS grant program. Such reorder requests shall not exceed 600 doses per order or $10,000. All requests shall be funded through the HEROS grant with no costs incurred by the County.
