On January 25, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners adopted the Parks Recreation Open Space Master Plan, outlining an updated level of service for all existing and future parks. In the report, recommendations were given to enhance park experiences, including upgrading or providing playgrounds at various locations throughout the county park system.
During the planning of the initial 5 year Capital Improvement Program in 2021, Hilliard Ballpark was identified as one of the locations that could benefit from the addition of a playground space. A project was put together based on available size and budget and was put into the original requests to be considered as a funded project in the 2021/2022 budget. During the budget process, the project was added to the CIP plan and subsequently funded through impact fees for the FY2021/2022 budget.
