Item Title:Appointment of Essential Housing Advisory Committee New Members

Background:

In 1992, the Florida State Legislature approved the William E. Sadowski Affordable Housing Act, creating the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) in order to support and expand the availability of affordable housing resources within the State.  In 1993, the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners established the local Affordable Housing Advisory committee, in accordance with Florida Statute, Chapter 420.976, to meet statutory requirements for the planning, implementation, and receipt of affordable housing funds.  There are 4 vacancies on the Essential Housing Advisory Committee.

Request:
Consider a Resolution amending Resolution No. 2017-99, which names the members of the Nassau County Essential Housing Advisory Committee, to add new members of the committee. Staff recommends the appointment of Stan Stapleton, Justin Taylor, Bill Bright and Thomas Waters to a two-year term beginning July 11, 2022.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
The Essential Housing Advisory Committee is a requirement of participating in the state SHIP program, but our EHAC explores all issues related to housing in Nassau County, understanding that housing is a complex issue. The committee looks at a variety of methods for addressing a spectrum of housing issues impacting our residents.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Consider a Resolution amending Resolution No. 2017-99, which names the members of the Nassau County Essential Housing Advisory Committee, to add new members of the committee. Staff recommends the appointment of Stan Stapleton, Justin Taylor, Bill Bright and Thomas Waters to a two-year term beginning July 11, 2022.
