BOCC AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Public Hearing Setting Policy for Naming of County Facilities
Date:7/25/2022
Department:County Manager's Office
Background:

From time to time, the Board receives requests from the public to name or rename County facilities after a member of the community. However, there has never been any formal policy to set criteria needed in order for the request to be considered. Establishing a policy will help ensure that the individual being honored has provided outstanding to the County and its residents.

At the June 27, 2022 meeting, the Board approved scheduling a public hearing for July 25, 2022, to consider an Ordinance setting policies and procedures for naming and/or renaming of County Facilities.

Please note that this policy would not including renaming of County roads as this matter is already addressed in the Nassau County Laws & Ordinances, Chapter 7, Buildings and Building Regulations XI, Addressing and Road Numbering.

Request:

Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
