Item Title:Increase to Lifeguard Contract CM1721-A3

Background:

The County and City of Fernandina Beach have an interlocal agreement for lifeguard services.  The original agreement was approved on February 9, 2011 and provided $10,000 for operating and $103,000 for personnel (total of $113,000 annually) to be paid to the City of Fernandina Beach for ocean rescue services.

 

Amendment No. 1, CM1721-A1, approved on November 27, 2017, allowed for a $5,000 increase, providing $10,000 for operating and $108,000 for personnel ($118,000 total annually).

 

Amendment No. 2, CM1721-A2, approved on June 8, 2020, allowed for a $17,000 increase, providing $10,000 for operating and $125,000 for personnel ($135,000 total annually).

 

Amendment No. 3, CM1721-A3, for consideration is an increase of $66,000 annually, beginning October 1, 2023, for a total amount of $201,000.

 

Request:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM1721-A3 with the City of Fernandina Beach, for Ocean Rescue Services for a $66,000 increase for operating and personnel cost, $201,000 total annually.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Utilizing the City of Fernandina Beach Ocean Rescue services will benefit both residents and visitors to the County beach areas by working to prevent accidents and responding to emergencies when needed.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM1721-A3 with the City of Fernandina Beach, for Ocean Rescue Services for a $66,000 increase for operating and personnel cost, $201,000 total annually.
