Item Title:Use of Peters Point for Empty Bowls Luncheon

Background:

The Barnabas Center is hosting their annual Empty Bowls Luncheon fundraiser on Friday, November 18, 2022. This year's event will be held at the Ritz Carlton. Due to limited parking at the Ritz, they are requesting permission to utilize Peters Point Beach Front Park from 10am-2pm for overflow parking to accommodate their guests.

 

This event historically attracts about 700 guests however it is unknown exactly how many cars will need to park at Peters Point. (some guests will be allowed to park at the Ritz and other guests may ride together) The organization will secure shuttle buses to transport guests from Peters Point to the Ritz.

 

If approved, staff recommends that the row of parking closest to the beach lot remain open for the public. (see attached aerial map). This section includes ADA parking spaces as well.

Request:
Consider request from Barnabas Center for use of Peters Point parking lot from 10am-2pm on Friday, November 18, 2022, for overflow parking related to the annual Empty Bowls event taking place at the Ritz Carlton.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
There is no financial impact however approval of this request will reduce the amount of parking spaces available for the public. The event is in November which is not typically a busy month for beach goers.

Consider request from Barnabas Center for use of Peters Point parking lot from 10am-2pm on Friday, November 18, 2022, for overflow parking related to the annual Empty Bowls event taking place at the Ritz Carlton.
