| | | | | | | | | Background: | In March 2020 the Board of County Commissioners entered into a Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreement with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the amount of $3,197,768.00 for the construction of safety improvements on CR 108 from Middle Road to US Highway 17. The project was scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2022.
Construction bids were solicited in the fall of 2020 with two proposals being submitted for consideration. The FHWA found discrepancies within the invitation to bid packet, and the Board voted to reject the bids that were received. The bid package was corrected and in June 2021 three proposals were received in response to the solicitation. Due to delays in the contract being written and unprecedented inflation, the contractors were not able to honor their construction bids. A third solicitation has been advertised.
The Community Services/Capital Improvement Group requested additional time to complete the project, and FDOT has agreed to extend the contract (FDOT Contract #G1K70) to June 30, 2023.
