Item Title:Sheriff Use of Crime Prevention Trust Fund to Invest in Neighborhood Signs

Background:

The Nassau County Sheriff's Office is seeking to expend $1,452.00 from the Crime Prevention Trust Fund for neighborhood signs to help discourage fast driving throughout the County. The signs will have a Sheriff's Badge and will state: "DRIVE LIKE YOUR KIDS LIVE HERE, Sheriff Bill Leeper, Nassau County Sheriff's Office." Speeding in Nassau County neighborhoods continues to be a problem and these signs will help the Nassau County Sheriff's Office prevent some of the speeding.

 

Pursuant to Florida State Statute, Section 775.083, the County in consultation with the Sheriff must expend monies from the Crime Prevention Fund for crime prevention programs in the County. 

Request:
Sheriff's Business - Authorize use of $1,452.00 from the Crime Prevention Trust Fund for neighborhood signs to help discourage fast driving throughout the County. Funding Source: 01031521-549036 CRMPV.

The installation of signs will deter drivers from speeding in Nassau County neighborhoods, increasing the safety of residents.
