Item Title:Resolution for Nassau Habitat for Humanity

Background:

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states and in more than 70 counties around the world. Their mission is to build and improve homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live. Since their founding in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 39 million people build or improve a place to call home. Nassau Habitat for Humanity has completed 48 homes to date and has made a recent commitment to expand its current build effort from two homes annually to six homes annually by year 2026, in an effort to address the affordable housing need in Nassau County. 

 

The first Monday in October is recognized world-wide as World Habitat Day. However, the Board is respectfully requested to proclaim the month of October 2022 as Nassau Habitat for Humanity Month to raise awareness of their service to the community and events held throughout the month of October.  Representatives from Nassau Habitat for Humanity will be in attendance to accept the Resolution. 

 

Request:
Approve a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, proclaiming the month of October 2022 as "Nassau Habitat for Humanity" Month. 
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
There is not financial impact associated with the Resolution. However Nassau Habitat for Humanity makes home ownership possible for Nassau County residents in need of affordable housing. 
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Approve a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, proclaiming the month of October 2022 as "Nassau Habitat for Humanity" Month.
