Item Title:NEFRC 2023 Legislative Priorities

Background:

Annually, the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) requests input from each of the Counties and Municipalities within the region to create and move forward legislative priorities for the Northeast Florida Region. The upcoming Legislative Session will convene in January 2023; however, the NEFRC would like to have the Northeast Florida Region’s priorities in the hands of our Legislators as they convene for their Committees prior to the start of the Session.

 

The NEFRC legislative priorities are intended to address regional scale issues. After reviewing the priorities of each County and Municipality in the region, the NEFRC Legislative Committee will determine the top “regional priorities” that represent the most critical concerns of the Northeast Florida Region at their October meeting. Once finalized, the Council’s Legislative Priorities will be distributed to our Board of
Directors and member local governments. Additionally, the Priorities will be provided to the Regional Legislative Delegation for their consideration and action.

Request:
Discuss/consider the County's legislative priorities to be submitted to the Northeast Florida Regional Council for the 2023 Legislative Session.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Legislative Priorities are considered by the Northeast Florida Regional Council to illustrate the most critical concerns of the Northeast Florida Region. By participating, Nassau County's concerns are recognized and will be addressed and resolved like those of surrounding communities.
