Background:
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated across the U.S. in October. Each year, Nassau County proclaims a week to Breast Cancer Awareness and one day that week as "Pink Day" to spread awareness.
Request:
Approve a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, proclaiming the week of October 23-October 29, 2022 as Breast Cancer Awareness Week and Wednesday, October 26, 2022 as "Pink Day".
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Raising awareness about breast cancer encourages residents to do self exams in an effort to detect breast cancer earlier and increase likeliness of survival.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Approve a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, proclaiming the week of October 23-October 29, 2022 as Breast Cancer Awareness Week and Wednesday, October 26, 2022 as "Pink Day".
